Choosing and Adjusting a " DERYAN" Children's Helmet
With a DERYAN children’s helmet, the fit is more important than the age recommendation. The black version in size S has an adjustment knob at the back and adjustable straps. First, measure your child’s head circumference and compare it to the sizing information for this exact model.
Adjust in the correct order
Put on the helmet according to the instructions and check its position on your head. It should not tilt too far back, as this would leave your forehead unprotected. Then use the adjustment knob and straps to ensure a proper fit.
A helmet should fit snugly without feeling uncomfortably tight. Make sure it doesn't slip easily and that the buckle closes properly. A thick hat or other layer can affect the fit; follow the product instructions accordingly.
Check before every ride
Check to make sure the straps are still tight, the buckle works properly, and the material shows no signs of damage. Children grow, and sometimes they adjust the buckle themselves. A helmet that fit last month may need to be readjusted.
The certified helmet has an ABS outer shell and EPS foam. These material names alone do not provide information about which sports are permitted. Check what uses the helmet is approved for and use it only for those purposes.
Replace after a severe impact
The product instructions state that you should not reuse the helmet after a severe impact. Damage may be present even if it is not clearly visible. Don't base your decision solely on how good the outside looks.
Pair a properly fitting helmet with guidance and a suitable place to practice—for example, when your child is learning to ride the DERYAN 12-inch kids' bike.
