Your child's first steps are among the most precious, but also earliest milestones in your child's life. This moment marks a new phase and foreshadows many beautiful, but also exciting events that are yet to come. For some parents, this realization can be accompanied by many feelings and concerns. The familiar living room, your child's usual play corner, may suddenly not hold their attention or guarantee safety.
With newly acquired skills, your darling can explore the horizons, and before you know it, your little one won't be where you last saw him or her. Of course, babies and toddlers won't get far, but that doesn't take away from the stress you'll probably experience at times. In this blog, we'll give you some tools for this special phase.
Give compliments
Learning to walk comes with ups and downs, literally and figuratively. This requires some getting used to for you as a parent, but the same also applies to your child. Therefore, remain calm in your child's presence and make sure that you encourage your darling sufficiently. As a result, they dare more and more, and things improve automatically. Great for you and for them!
Create a safe environment
Now that your little one is eventually moving through the room on their own, it is extremely important to have a child-friendly (living) space. Small babies can pull themselves up on furniture and have an increased risk of falling. The latter is of course obvious, but that doesn't mean it's pleasant. It is best for all parties to limit this as much as possible. And when your little one falls, make sure they don't land too hard. Think of a rug or blanket – in other words, a soft surface. Avoid hard and slippery floors, as this increases the risk of falling because your child has less grip on them. And make sure that dangerous objects are stored out of reach of the little one.
Limit the area
If you want to prevent your baby from just going somewhere, but they are still too young for a closed playpen, it is useful to close off areas or have a baby gate to install.
Used toys
By placing or holding some toys here and there, you encourage your child to walk towards them. You can also choose to take a walker or car, so that your child can walk independently with their toys.
Stay nearby
It can be tempting to quickly go somewhere else, but when your child is just learning to walk, it's important to stick around. Accidents are easy to happen, especially if you don't yet know exactly how your own legs and feet work.
Buy a playpen
It's not quite that time yet, but once your child passes 24 months, they'll be able to walk much further than during the first months of learning to walk. Especially then, it can be a surprise where they've wandered off to. If you're still a bit hesitant about this, you can buy a playpen. In a playpen or play yard, children from 2 years old can play, even with a friend. You can easily take this box with you everywhere, which opens up a world of possibilities. Whether you're going to the beach for a day, camping, or spending a weekend with friends or family, the mobile box can be taken with you. This means you're no longer limited to your own home with your little baby.
DERYAN has no fewer than three different playpens for sale!
We hope we have been able to help you along the way with this blog. Remember that this is just a learning phase and your little one will get the hang of it. They will fall regularly, but will also get up again through their own willpower. Small children are curious by nature and many doors open for them with this new skill.
hereSo don't worry too much and enjoy your darling!
