The best Christmas movies for young and old

Getting through December without the necessary amount of Christmas movies is next to impossible. To get us through the dark month of December, we have listed the best Christmas movies. The movies are for young, old, couples and the whole family. Almost all movies can be seen via Netflix.

If there is a movie that fits the holidays, it is Home Alone. The film has been around for thirty years this week, and it is still watched a lot during the holidays. The American film is about a large family going on vacation to France, but accidentally forgetting one of the children at home. Eight-year-old Kevin is having the time of his life now that he is finally home alone. Unfortunately, there is no option to relax at home as he has his hands full chasing away two burglars.

Another true Christmas classic that everyone should see at least once is 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' from 2000. The film is almost twenty-two years old, but still a true classic. With Jim Carrey in the lead role as The Grinch, he tries to ruin Christmas for the village of WhoVille. The film is highly recommended for the whole family.

We have also selected a nice movie for couples, namely; The Holiday. This Hollywood movie is from 2006 and stars famous actors such as Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black. The film is about two women who change their lives via a website by participating in a house swap. Both women eventually begin to realize how happy they should be with what they have, and of course they both find someone to fall in love with. A nice movie for the couples among our readers!

Many films have been released from the book "A Christmas Carol", which was published in 1843, including the 3D animated film from 2009. A Christmas Carol is about an old and bitter man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas. His life revolves around getting money and nothing else. But his view of life changes when three ghosts visit him on Christmas Eve. All three ghosts give the old grumpy man an important message. The first ghost shows him his most painful events from the past, the second ghost teaches him to reflect on his statements and the last ghost shows him what people think of him when he is no longer there. This frightening night makes the man change his life and become the gentle man he once was.
