Work at DERYAN
Please read this before DERYAN a job at DERYAN
On social media, we love to showcase what we're proud of: new products, families traveling together, and smart solutions that make life easier for parents.
But there’s much more behind every photo, every product, and every order. What you don’t often see is just how much work gets done every day—from the initial sketch and product development to marketing, customer service, logistics, and everything else it takes to ultimately get a DERYAN into a family’s home.
And that is precisely where DERYAN's true strength lies: in the people who make this possible together.
Our story began with a family
DERYAN founded in 1999 by Roy van Aalst. The name DERYAN a combination of his sons' names: Dean and Ryan.
That really sums up where our brand comes from.
What began as a practical idea at the kitchen table has grown into an international Dutch family business. Today, more than one million parents rely on our products, and DERYAN, travel cribs, and other travel products accompany families on adventures all over the world.
A lot has changed over the years. We’ve grown, we sell our products in more and more countries, and we develop new products every year. But our core mission has remained the same: we want to make life easier for young families with products that are smart, safe, and practical.
Today, different generations at DERYAN work closely together. We are building on what Roy started in 1999, with the same dedication and with new ambitions for the future.
From our family to yours.
The People Behind DERYAN
Our products are visible. The people behind those products, however, are often less so.
Yet it is precisely they who make the difference.
The people who DERYAN a good DERYAN for DERYAN are committed, curious, and practical. They see where things can be improved and don’t wait for someone else to fix them. They aren’t afraid to take responsibility, come up with ideas, and help each other when needed.
We aren't looking for people who just want to do a job. We're looking for people who want to help build something.
To better products. To a stronger brand. And to a company we can still be proud of ten or twenty years from now.
Yes, DERYAN truly a family-owned business
At DERYAN , we don't DERYAN we're one big family just because it sounds nice. We literally grew out of a family.
We want to preserve that family feeling, even as our team and our brand continue to grow. For us, this means looking out for one another, communicating honestly with each other, and taking joint responsibility for the results.
But a sense of family doesn't mean that everything is noncommittal.
We have big ambitions and expect everyone to take their responsibilities seriously. We can be critical of each other’s work, as long as we remain respectful and keep the same goal in mind.
We don't always have to agree with each other. Quite the opposite, actually. Good ideas come about when people dare to speak their minds and work together to find the best solution.
How We Work
DERYAN an entrepreneurial family-owned business. Communication lines are short, decisions can be made quickly, and a good idea can quickly become a reality.
That also means that you'll have a lot of autonomy when you work with us.
You don’t need to ask for permission for every step. We expect you to think things through, take the initiative, and let us know right away if you’re stuck. Mistakes can happen. Not learning from mistakes or letting problems go unresolved isn’t really our style.
We work quickly, but not carelessly. Especially when it comes to products for children, safety and quality are areas where we make no compromises.

What We Value
A sense of family. We look out for one another and help each other move forward. Not because it’s in a manual, but because we’re all responsible for DERYAN together.
Ownership. When you’re responsible for something, you’re given the freedom to make decisions. This also means not passing problems on to others and communicating clearly about progress.
Honesty. We’d rather address issues right away than let them linger for weeks. Communicating honestly and clearly prevents unnecessary frustration and helps us move forward more quickly.
Simplicity. Our products make life easier for parents. We apply that same philosophy to our work as well. If something can be made simpler, smarter, or clearer, we look for that solution.
Collaboration. We don’t work in silos. Product development, customer service, logistics, e-commerce, marketing, and sales all depend on each other to achieve the best results.
Safety and Quality. We develop products for children. That comes with a great deal of responsibility. Safety, reliability, and quality are therefore always our top priorities.
Progress.DERYAN since 1999 because we’ve continued to evolve. What worked well yesterday may not be the best solution tomorrow. We continue to listen to parents, test new ideas, and improve what can be improved.
What We Value Less
“That’s not my responsibility.” Of course, everyone has their own role. But when you see a problem, we expect you to help solve it or make sure it gets to the right person.
Unnecessary complexity. More steps, more meetings, and more documents don’t automatically make a solution better. We value clear agreements and practical action.
Office politics and gossip. We talk to each other, not about each other. We discuss problems directly with the people involved.
Just talk. A good idea only becomes valuable when someone puts it into action. We value people who both think and take action.
Putting your ego above the team. You don't have to downplay your own importance, but the collective result is more important than being personally right.
Wait and see. At DERYAN , you’ll be given DERYAN and trust to take the initiative, make bold decisions, and take responsibility for the results.
Building the Next Chapter Together
DERYAN as one family’s idea. We’ve grown thanks to all the people who have since contributed their knowledge, creativity, and energy to the company.
Now we're moving forward with the next chapter.
We want to reach more families, develop better products, and continue to grow internationally, without losing the personal touch and direct communication typical of a family business.
To that end, we’re looking for people who don’t just want a job, but want to make a difference. People who want to take pride in what they create and who want to work with us to build a brand that makes parents’ daily lives easier.
Do you recognize yourself in this?
Then we'd love to get to know you.
Dean van Aalst
