New Year's resolutions for your child: A new year!

New Year's resolutions with your child: A new year!

Losing weight, eating less, drinking less, or worrying less: the list for every start of the year. However, these are all good intentions that you often try to keep to yourself. But isn't it more fun to stick to good intentions together? Stimulation and motivation are very important, and how fun it is to take on a fun challenge with your child. That's why we're giving you a new dose of inspiration to start your year off right with your child!

  1. Eat healthy together!
It's no secret that eating healthy has benefits for everyone. It is especially important for children that they receive the right nutrients, because they still have to grow!

It is not only important to eat healthy, but also to eat together. We have already explained the importance of eating together in a few blogs. Curious? Then read this blog post here.
  1. Giving compliments

A nice compliment is never a bad thing, right? It's even more fun to share this with your child. You're also teaching your child a positive and friendly mindset. They also learn to look at their peers differently by giving them different compliments each time. Of course, it's not always easy for children to give compliments themselves, so you can give them a list of examples. And no, that doesn't make the compliment any less sincere!

  1. Talk to your child

Yes, guilty! We often tend to talk *at* our children rather than *with* them. Let your child ask you a question! What would they want from their parents? Have a conversation with your child. Maybe you'll discover even faster how much you're alike!

  1. Clean together

Cleaning is often not the most fun activity for us, let alone for your child. However, it is important that they receive and learn this from an early age. Try to make it a fun time by cleaning together. As a result, the association with this activity is positive and children are more likely to do it on their own.

  1. Less screen time

There's no getting around it: screen time! Nowadays, it's common for kids to take classes on a tablet or computer. More and more games are going digital, leading kids to ask younger and younger: "Can I have the tablet?"

Agree with yourself (possibly your partner) and your child on how often you want to spend time in front of a screen per week. This way, your child also knows when they can or cannot ask!

  1. More on the outside

It is extremely healthy to be outside, but unfortunately, many children are inside. Especially in these unpleasant times, where schools are closed all the time and children are forced to stay inside, it is important that they spend a little more time outside.
As a parent, take an extra 10 minutes to go to the playground or walk around the nearest lake. Healthy for you, but also for your child!
