Good intentions with your child: A new year!

Good intentions with your child: A new year!

Losing weight, eating less, drinking less or worrying less about things: the list for every start of the year. However, these are all good resolutions that you often try to keep on your own. But wouldn't it be more fun to keep them together? Encouragement and motivation is very important, and how fun is it to do a fun challenge together with your child. Therefore, we give you a fresh dose of inspiration to start your year off right with your child!

  1. Eat Healthy Together!
It is no secret that a healthy diet has benefits for every person. For example, it is especially important for children to get the right nutrients; after all, they still have to grow!

Not only eating healthy is important, but also eating together. A few blogs back, we explained the importance of eating together. Curious? Then read this blog post here.
  1. Giving compliments

A nice compliment is never wrong, right? Even nicer is sharing it with your child. In addition, you teach your child a positive and friendly mindset. They also learn to look differently at their fellow man, by complimenting something different every time. Of course, it is not always easy for children to think of compliments themselves, so you can give them a list of examples. And no, this does not make the compliment less sincere!

  1. Talk to your child

Yes, guilty! We often have a habit of talking to our children, rather than with them. Let your child ask you a question! What would they like from their parents? Have a conversation with your child. You might find out even faster how much alike you are!

  1. Cleaning up together

Cleaning up is often not the most fun for us, let alone for your child. Nevertheless, it is important that they learn to do this at a young age. Try to make it a fun moment by cleaning up together. This makes the association with this activity positive and children are more likely to do it on their own.

  1. Less screen time

We can't escape it anymore: screens! For children today, it is already a habit to be taught on tablet or computer. More and more games are becoming digital, causing children at younger and younger ages to ask, "Can I have the tablet?"

Agree with yourself (possibly partner) and your child how many times a week screen time is desired. This way your child will also know when he/she may or may not ask for it!

  1. More outside

It is tremendously healthy to be outdoors, but unfortunately many children are indoors. Especially in this inconvenient time, when schools are closed at all hours, and children are forced inside, it is important that they get some extra outdoors.
As a parent, take those extra 10 minutes to go with them to the playground, or walk around the nearest lake. Healthy for yourself, but also for your child!
