The best Christmas movies for young & old

Getting through December without the necessary amount of Christmas movies is almost impossible. To get through the dark December month, we have collected the funniest Christmas movies. The films are for young, old, couples and the whole family. The films can almost all be seen via Netflix.

If there is one movie that fits the holidays, it is Home Alone. This week the film is already thirty years old, and it is still frequently watched during the holidays. The American film is about a large family that goes on vacation to France, but accidentally forgets one of the children at home. Eight-year-old Kevin is having the time of his life now that he is finally home alone. Unfortunately, it is not possible for him to relax at home, as he is busy chasing away two burglars.

Another real Christmas classic that everyone should see at least once is 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' from 2000. The film is almost twenty-two years old, but still a real classic. With Jim Carrey in the lead role as The Grinch, he tries to ruin Christmas for the small town of WhoVille. The film is a really good choice for the whole family.

For the couples, we have also found a fun movie, namely; The Holiday. This Hollywood film is from 2006 and has famous film stars such as Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet and Jack Black in the lead roles. The film is about two women who both change their lives by participating in a house swap via a website. Both women eventually begin to realize how happy they should be with what they have, and of course they both find someone they fall in love with. A fun movie for the couples among our readers!

From the book 'A Christmas Carol', which was published in 1843, countless films have been released, including the 3D animated film from 2009. A Christmas Carol is about an old and bitter man, Ebenezer Scrooge, who hates Christmas. His life revolves around getting money, and nothing else. However, his view of life changes when three spirits visit him on Christmas Eve. All three spirits give the old grumpy man an important message. Thus, the first spirit shows him his most painful events from the past, the second spirit teaches him to think about his statements, and the last spirit shows him how people think of him when he is no longer here. This frightening night makes the man change his life, and he becomes the kind man he once was again.
