Using the Amora Baby Carrier from DERYAN in the First Few Weeks
The Amora DERYAN is an adjustable baby carrier with a specified weight range of 3.2 to 20 kg. For a young baby, proper use begins at the lower limit of this range, taking into account the support and adjustments. The statement “from birth” does not mean that the baby carrier will fit every newborn without first being checked.
Adjust first, then go for a walk
Practice putting it on at home, when things are calm. Adjust the hip belt and shoulder straps according to the instructions, and check that the leg openings fit your baby. Have someone watch you the first time you do this. You need to be able to support your child properly while putting it on and taking it off.
The face should remain visible and unobstructed. Make sure the chin does not drop toward the chest and that the nose and mouth are not pressed against anything. The parent’s clothing and loose fabric should not cover the face.
Resetting for a Different Carrier
The adjustable straps allow different caregivers to use the Amora. Be sure to take the time to readjust the fit each time. The setting that’s right for one parent isn’t necessarily the right setting for another.
Start with a short walk and check how your child is positioned along the way. The baby carrier counts as an extra layer around the body; dress your child appropriately for the weather.
When do you let someone watch along with you?
If you're unsure about the position or if your baby needs extra support, have an expert assess the fit. You can read more about free breathing and support on the VeiligheidNL website under "Safe Carrying."
